I am a children’s book author who’s endlessly curious about the natural world, big feelings and identity (LGBTQ+ and mental health especially). Exploring how we fit into the world around us and what it feels like to interact with nature, I enjoy finding the awe and moments of inspiration that exist around us. I am fascinated by tiny, quiet moments, connection with others (including animals), and identity and diversity. Book arts, crafts and fiber arts inspire me and help keep my body calm. Yoga, dance and movement play a huge role in my creative process, and I firmly believe in the importance of dance breaks!
Earning a BA in English and Creative Writing from Rhode Island College and a Masters in Library and Information Science from Simmons College, I worked as an academic librarian and independent school Library Director for over a decade. Holding positions at Brown University, Roger Williams University, Harvard and the University of Southern California (USC), I worked mostly in Special Collections and the History of the Book.
I live in Connecticut with my family, including two small children, a growing creature collection, and lots of plants!
When I’m not writing, I teach children’s yoga in schools through my company Pip Yoga and volunteer at the local public school library. I enjoy yoga, hiking, knitting, reading, swimming, gardening, and dance parties!
